Frequently Asked
Questions
Q: What is hypnobirthing?
A: Hypnobirthing allows you to take an approach to labour and birth where you no longer feel scared or anxious of whats to come. Hypnobirthing is about allowing you to feel in control of your labour and decisions around your pregnancy and birth.
Q: When is the best time to book?
A: For the full hypnobirthing course, it is advised for you to book around 20 weeks of pregnancy with a view to completing a course between 28 and 34 weeks of pregnancy. However, if you are already past this, please get in touch so we can discuss what would work for you.
Q: What will I take away from the course?
A: It is an evidence-based, non-judgemental and unbiased approach to birthing. You will come away feeling empowered and able to look forward to your birth, reducing any anxieties around this. It will also enable you to make informed decisions around your pregnancy and birth. Our aim is for expectant parents to feel calm, confident and reassured about their labour and birth.
Q: What's included in the full hypnobirthing course?
A: You will receive a full 12 hours worth of content including: education on the stages of labour, the initial time after birth, breathing and relaxation techniques, informed decision making/BRAIN tool, optimal positioning in labour and more.
Q: How do I pay for the course?
A: You will be asked to pay a 50% deposit via bank transfer upon booking. The remaining 50% will be required to be paid one week before the start of your course.
Q: I am having a c-section, can I still do hypnobirthing?
A: Absolutely! Hypnobirthing isn't just about vaginal births. It is there to help you take a positive approach to birthing, using relaxation techniques and enabling you to feel empowered around your birth and birth decisions.
Q: Does my birthing partner need to attend the course?
A: It is advised for a birthing partner to attend a course if you have one. However, it is not essential. But it would be encouraged for you to go over your newly taught hypnobirthing skills at home with your birth partner.
Q: Does hypnobirthing mean I won't need any more pain relief?
A: Hypnobirthing is not an alternative to pain relief or considered a type of pain relief. However, people have reported not needing pain relief at all or just using it towards the end stages of labour. "Pain" is experienced very differently amongst others but hypnobirthing can help with this.
